The word “dubstep” is getting tossed around a lot these days thanks to the release of Britney Spears’ new single “Hold It Against Me”. Well, I got news for ya kids, it AIN’T dubstep! Or at least the type of dubstep I can audibly discern or throw my support behind. That being said, I’m all for pop artists producing tracks with electro beats and I’m even more supportive of electro artists remixing pop tracks to great effect (see: Tommie Sunshine’s edit of the aforementioned single) 

Now. You want some real dubstep? Check out Div Kid’s newest (and dare I say sickest) release, “Mumbai”. It’s dubstep blended with electro, tech house and progressive and it is FIERCE!  Not only is the original fantastic, but the remixes by KANEDUBSTEP, Mark Kane, Subtrakill and Reverend Pariah are all amazing in their phenomenal uniqueness.
